I love Christmas time just as much as the next person: all the glitz and glam, presents, flashy ornaments and decorations: I eat it all up. But over the years as I have gotten older I find myself appreciating not only those things, but something much more meaningful and heartfelt: traditions. I love the face that every year we have the same traditions that make Christmas all about happiness, joy, and celebration. It is, after all, my favorite holiday and with all the traditions that we have created over the years, I hope that I can create many many more in the years to come.
A few of our holiday traditions in our family throughout the years:
Davidge and Norton family reunion time. During Christmas time we all make up for the time during the rest of the year that we don't see each other. With all the kids growing up, it's nearly impossible to get together anymore. We always have a get together every Christmas, as well as some pond hockey & and lots of Culver hockey games (pictured at Rob's game...still Culver's biggest fans!!)
Lots and LOTS of laying around, holiday movie watching, and snaking on treats that Mom makes or brings home. Hello extra 5 lbs over Christmas break :-(
Showcasing my fantastic wrapping skills...I truly do enjoy wrapping! Every year I help Dad wrap the presents he got my mom (he says he's a bad wrapper, but secretly I know he just would rather I do it. Whatever, I enjoy it so I wrap for him anyways!)
BAKING X10000. Cupcakes, sugar cookies, muffins you name it. I love all the holiday sprinkles and muffin cups, it's the little decorations that make them that much more special!
Grandma's recipes. I made baked eggs for myself one morning just on a whim, but my mom always bakes them for us on Christmas morning along with coffee cake. They are so simple, yet so delicious and always make me think of Christmas morning :-)
Cheese+Eggs+Ketchup=A delicious heavenly breakfast treat. YUM!
Merry Christmas from my family to yours & have a happy holiday!!
