Seasons change, and people do too

I love this time of the year when the leaves start to change (at home, not quite here yet) and the weather at night causes you to put on a jacket. Summer reminds us that it does in fact have an expiration date...whether we want it to come or not. With the changes of the leaves, we find sometimes that we have changed as well.

Many times in our lives, it is right at the moment that we begin to get comfortable that we find everything shifts. Sometimes change seems to be impossible, until one day we wake up and find out lives to be completely different. As we make the transition from one season to the next certain things don't survive: relationships, attitudes, friendships, career paths. Sometimes, like the clothes in your closet, you look and realize that things no longer fit.

It is then that we find ourselves forced to make a choice: we can choose to go with the flow, to release what was and to embrace what is. Or we can cling to our yesterdays, denying the present and delaying the future.

We are trading out those summery dresses, sandals, and white pants for those leggings, boots, and sweaters. Don't just trade those in, but make some changes for yourself.

I read these yesterday and they inspired me to write this post. Enjoy:

  • Trade those regrets! If you were meant to be there, then you would be. If it was meant to happen, then it would have. Everything that you have been through has brought you to where you are now- which is where you are supposed to be.

  • Trade your plans for something bigger. Trust me when I tell you- God has much bigger plans for you then you could ever have for yourself.
  • Trade fear. Call its bluff and courageously strut your stuff!!
  • Trade complacency. Everything that you wanted is right outside of your comfort zone.
  • Trade self doubt. Stop knowing your imperfections and start rocking your imperfections. Life created only one you for all time. How amazing is that??

Just some inspirational thoughts to start the week off right. This was a much needed weekend full of relaxation, food and so much laughter. Just the right ingredients =)
