So often we forget that our greatest power is in our own words. We easily get so wrapped up in iPhones, Twitter, Facebook, blogging, etc, etc, (I am guilty) so it is easy to forget how much words truly speak to a persons heart and soul.
We obsess over the latest movie stars, singers, yet we forget that the true people that have a voice are those people that you meet at a train station, in the coffee shop, or just simply walking on a beautiful day. Those are the people from which knowledge should be taken, and how easily we forget that simple thing.
Story Corps is a company with booths set up all over the United States for people to come and tell their story, get their voice out into the world amid of all the endless chatter. Their stories are truly inspirational, and I make it an object of mine to listen to one every single day.
Stories keep the soul alive, and from people's stories we can learn more about them and about ourselves. It's magical just listening to these people and I feel so privileged to be included in some of the most intimate details of their lives.
I hope that you enjoy them as much as I did...for they truly are a gift. Don't forget your voice, for you were given one for a reason. Speak well and as much as you can!
