Water Works

At the risk of sounding like an 80 year old retired woman, I am going to make the bold statement that I have found a new love of my life: water aerobics. Call me crazy but I had too much fun today jumping around, doing crunches and water running I may have in fact found a new hobby. Maybe water aerobics are not just for old ladies who get together because this is the last form of exercise that they can actually stand doing.

It seems like every summer I discover a new type of exercise that "pushes the boundries" of the exercise that I am currently doing. Yes I run and lift almost everyday (please notice the almost, I have not been doing very well recently) and I consider myself to be in above average shape. But I love finding something that really helps me to realize that maybe I am not really in that good of shape. Water polo was one of those things. Maybe I still can breathe hard, break a sweat, get a cramp in something that involves something other than running laps around a track.

Last year it was my discovery of spinning. My dad is a avid spinner, and swears that it helps him keep his weight off. So I of course thought that it would be an easy task for me, only because my dad is in okay shape but I of course thought I was better. Mmmm...not so much. I died in my first spinning class. And the second, and maybe the third. My dad completly kicked my butt and actually put me in my place. No more judgements from this girl any longer.

I spend ample amounts of time in the swimming pool everyday teaching swimming classes to campers, so you would think that every chance I have to breathe normal oxygen would be gladly taken. Not so much haha. After my afternoon run and weights, I went back to the pool, faced the chilly water, and did a 45 minute water aerobics class. Christine, our instructor, gave us plenty of challenging exercises and before long I found myself out of breath.
Who would have guessed??
Maybe I have found my calling...
