hello world

I was gloomy today to say the least. It was raining outside, nonstop, Oxford-style, ALL DAY. And when I say rain I really do mean poured. Soaked through my rain jacket. Wet tennis shoes. I was not at all a happy camper.

Making my way across campus in the rain to my first class of the day, I had my head down trying to keep the rain out of my eyes. Naturally I wasn't looking where I was going at all and minding my own business. I looked up just in time to cross the street when I saw
HIM.

He was my age, just a common everyday guy desperately trying to make his way to class. He looked just like me...drenched. He was so wet that he looked like he had been walking a long way to get to class (parking here is horrendous.) But something stopped me dead in my tracks.

He was smiling. Not just smiling but downright laughing at himself, at the whole situation surrounding us. In all of the ridiculousness of the rain, despite all the misery he could have felt he was laughing.

Thank you Lord, for sending me a ray of sunshine in my day. I slowed down, RELAXED, and took a giant deep breath. It's in times like these, moments like these, that I say
"how can you not believe?"
A simple smile from a complete stranger can change someone's day.

He changed mine.

Hello world, thank you.
