There's something so poetic about snowfall. The snowflakes have such a short lifespan, yet they make such lasting impressions on people's lives.
Tis the season for lasting impressions, don't you think? I have a fear (not many people know this one) of the bell-ringing Salvation Army workers outside stores around the holidays. Not that I am afraid of them, and not that I don't contribute to their cause, because I do. But they make me feel this strange guilt that I cannot explain.
In all my years, I have concluded that they are there, standing outside stores not to make you feel guilty. I think that they are there as the constant reminder that there is a world much bigger than just ourselves. People out there that wish they had a fraction of what we enjoy everyday.
We are often so obsessed with buying everything that we see. We think that we need something, so we impulse buy things just to buy. Do we truly enjoy these things or are we simply buying into a commercial craze?
So is true in life. Buying into something that really may not be that important is something I find myself doing everyday. We're here for such a short time, why not make these little moments matter?
Sometimes, I need stop and take a minute just to admire life's moments, live in the beauty of it all....
then move on.
That is after all, what it's all about:
the people that leave impressions on our lives.
the experiences that change us.
We are all snowflakes in a big universe I call a snowstorm, and these people and experiences are mere flashes of happiness and joy. Some stick around, and some melt away. But the impact they have on our lives lives on.
Isn't that the beauty of it all?
Happy holidays to you and your families!
