I was having a discussion with my dear friend Neal today while waiting for weights to begin. We were talking about how many things we have on our plates right now: school, track, and Neal's sorority to name a few. God bless that girl...she has so much going on right now it makes my day look easy. How she does it is beyond my knowledge.
It got me to thinking what really is important to us as college students, as people, as human beings. We all can sit down and order our priorities from 1-10 with religion and family taking the top (hopefully) and education, friendship, significant others, etc following close behind. This is easy. But for where were at right now at this point in our lives, what is important to us?
Somedays my life seems to be school, then track, then sleep...on repeat. Maybe this isn't the best mindset to have, but it's reality. And I think that right now thats okay. We just can't lose sight of what is truly important.
I'll leave you with a quote from my good friend (don't I wish) James Patterson. He writes about the lesson of the 5 balls in his books and for some reason it has stuck with me all these years.
"Imagine that life is a game in which you are juggling five balls. The five balls are: family, friends, health, integrity, and work. And you are keeping all of them in the air. But one day you finally come to understand that "work" is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. The other four---family, friends, health, and integrity---are made of glass. And if you drop them, they will crack, chip, or shatter. Once you truly understand the lesson of the five balls, you will discover balance in your life."
Such important things to remember even though we are sometimes so quick to forget.
Were on the home stretch...almost Friday YAY :-)
