I feel like this summer so far has been a constant wave of nostalgia and flashbacks of my childhood. I guess Culver does that to you...when we all come back to the same place, it makes us giddy and eager to swap "remember when" stories. Everyone is always convinced that their story is the best, and people always smile when a story is told that everyone had forgotten had even happened in the first place.
Aline introduced me once again to the Disney soundtracks. I forgot how much I adored the music, and it still makes me giggle to realize that after not hearing these songs for many years I can still belt out the Hakuna Matata. Aline, Justin, Gonzo and I went putt putt golfing yesterday in Plymouth and we listened to Disney music the whole ride home (much to Justin's dismay.) Needless to say the trip had not one dull moment.
It's funny how a certain song can trigger memories for you that you may have not remembered otherwise. Smells, places all do that to me..which I am always thankful for seeing as I have the worst long term memory. I feel like Disney songs defined my childhood, the movie characters were some of my best friends (so I thought). How crazy is it that such a simple thing has such a great impact on a child's life? A movie could bring me such happiness and so many good memories. It says a great deal when you can continue to go back to a movie years later as an adult, watch it, and get those same feelings as when you were younger. To me...that is the example of an excellent movie.
A few of my favorites...I hope that they make you smile as much as they did for me:
1. Hakuna Matata
2. A Whole New World
3. Can You Feel the Love Tonight
4. I'll Make a Man Out Of You
